Our tag line: “Youth Saving Youth” describes our belief that all
NOYS programs addressing youth health and safety are coordinated with youth
leading the way. Youth respond
positively to role models no
t only among adults, but also to peers with whom
they interact. The continuum begins with
inclusive adults who listen and value the contribution of young people as
responsible citizens in our society and leads to young people who embrace that responsibility
and bring others on board to make a difference. NOYS youth designed programs
serve as focus-groups or focus-group leaders on cutting-edge issues, speak on
issues and promote programs at conferences, meetings, and for media outlets, as
well as provide leadership within the coalition. The NOYS diversity in
rural/urban, youth/adult, and culture/ethnicity demonstrates the coalition’s
extensive expertise, commitment, vision, and progra
ming.
